What will we be doing

During the course of this one year, we are going to proceed along a list of target accomplishments, which was put together with a dual purpose in mind. One is to improve the livability of Tranqvillium, and the other is to teach sustainable skills to the participants.

The main target is to create a great community of awesome people who enjoy sharing this experience and hopefully beyond it. Developing a group of strangers into an extended family is a huge challenge, with rewards equal to the difficulty of it.

The physical target accomplishments can be organized in five categories.

  1. Structural Development.

In the timeline of 12 months the following structures will be completed:

  1. Four, single frequency geodesic domes (icosahedrons)

2) One, four frequency geodesic dome

3) One yurt, with a diameter of 16’

4) One Dine Hogan with the diameter of 15’-16’

5) One Superadobe dome with the diameter of 15’

6) One Underground greenhouse with passive heating and cooling.

7) Four Rocket Mass Heaters, one in each new residential icosahedrons.

2. Food production

With the greenhouse built the community will move to produce at least 50% of its own food and acquire an additional 25% through excess production exchange. This process will be accomplished through permaculture design principles.

3. Energy Production

Tranqvillium is already producing 100% of its own electricity and the amount produced and stored will be at least doubled.

4. Water sourcing

Tranqvillium currently gets 100% of its water from external sources. By the end of the year this will be moved up to 100% through atmospheric capture (rainwater and moisture) and a well.

5. Income flow

Within a year the community shift its income source from 95% external to 100% internal. This will be accomplished through several channels:

  1. Short term rental of the structures (1) and campsite
  2. Excess food production
  3. Online sales of locally produced products (yurts, art, outdoor gear, etc.)
  4. Workshops in the realm of different aspects of sustainable living (architecture, permaculture, systems design, retreats, art workshops, holistic practices, etc.)
  5. Video and other forms of documentation and publishing of the process. (Youtube docuseries)

As wonderful as these goals may be, to accomplish all this will take much dedication and a lot of hard work on the part of the participants. If you are ready to create such environment for yourself to live in, please fill out the application form here.
